I can only think of one “person” that would come close to being my Hero. 20 odd years ago I meet my hero. He became my everything. We shared so many of lifes stuggles as well as the most wonderful times. We shared something so special and rare that could never be dupicated again.
He saved my life iterally many times from a very abusing person and more horrific situations then I could ever recall. He stayed beside me when I was homeless, when I was so hungery I become very sick, when I was beaten by another and when I ran literly for my life.
He taught me the true meaning of uncondidtional love every second of every day for 14 years.
He made me laugh and warmed my heart when nothing else could.
He made me cry. I would not be the person I am today without knowing and loving this exceptional “person”.
His given name was J-Cola and he was called Jake.
Jake was the kindness, most loving creature ever to walk on the face of the earth. His sole purpose was to bring joy like no other to everyone he encountered for his short life of 14 years.
When I forgot to remove a rubber band from one of his ears (tieing them up made drying out his ears easier) which caused his ear to actually die and had to be surgerilly remove his love and devotion never wavered. When I made bad choices he unfortunatilly paid the price, still his love and devotion nevered wavered. When I put him in arms way through the years, his love and devotion nevered wavered. He gave me warmth when I was cold, He gave me hope when I had none, he gave me laugther when I was sad. He showed me how to be kind to others and gave my very exsistance a true purpose. Jake made my life worth living.
I know most people will write you and talk about their Hero being another human being but as hard as I thought of who was my hero I couldn’t think of anyone even remotely close to be my Hero as did my sweet English Springer, my best friend, my dog Jake.
When his life had been lived out to the fullest and it was time to be given much needed rest and free from the constant pain in his hips I had to say good-bye to my very best friend in the world, my heart was broken and no matter how hard I have tried to mend that broken heart with other loving pets it was not meant to be. My heart it remains broken to this day. I truley believe that God made Jake for me and I for Him. Jake did this job and when it was time to reward him for all the unselfish, loving, kindness and lifes leasons he showered upon me and all others that knew him, Jake went back to heaven. I know that there will or can ever be another companion like Jake. He taught me how to love unconditionally, how to forgive and most inportantly how to treat others with respect and understanding. He was one in a million.
Jake was my Hero and I am alive today because of him.
Until we meet again Rest in peace my friend.
I know that you wanted a person to be a hero but there has never been anyone or thing that gave as much to me as my dear friend Jake.

I am supporting the lst Rifles Battalion based near Chepstow and am always pleased when they return safe but unfortunately they lost some of their men in combat last year. Hopefully they will all be kept safe when they return for their next tour of duty. I think is extremely important to support our troups.

I have been an avid fan of your programme. Thank you for highlighting the problems that little people can face in every day life. I would like to get involved if you have any contacts in the UK. I live in Wales. Look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Jen
